Make-your-own Zingy Tomato Sauce!

Home with the family and looking for fun things to do with the kids that are healthy and taste nice? This amazing base tomato sauce is such a go-to in my house. It can be used on pasta, pizza, whizz it up smooth for a dip, add a hit of chilli or ginger, spread it on a sandwich or burger, the possibilities are endless.

There are so many great reasons to experiment with make-your-own recipes for household basics.

  • Keep the kids busy while helping feed the family. Watch how proud they are when everyone eats their sauce!

  • Teach kids the important life skills of what goes into their food and how to cook for themselves.

  • Do your pocketbook and the earth a favour- save buying all those sauces from the shops, no one needs all that extra packaging, artificial colouring, sugar or preservatives.

  • You can season make-your-own recipes to your crew's liking. Have a family that loves it spicy? Have a crew that likes it tangy? No problem!

  • You can use up any little bits of veggies, herbs, and spices etc you have sitting around- minimising food waste and saving money.

What You Need

  • 3 cloves garlic (or more depending what you want the sauce for), diced

  • 1 onion diced
